5 Great Tips to Prepare Your Volkswagen for Spring

It’s been a long time coming, but spring has finally sprung! And with the temperature rising and the snow receding, it’s time to get your Volkswagen ready for spring (and summer!) driving. Here are 5 great tips from our team here at Gary Moe Volkswagen that’s sure to get your VW ready for spring!

Get an Oil Change

Oil is the lifeblood of your engine, and it takes a beating during those cold winter months. That’s why it’s probably time to swap out that old dirty oil with the fresh, clean kind! Our Service & Parts department has oil perfectly formulated for your VW, as well as all the tools and techniques necessary to change your oil out in minutes! Book an Appointment with us today!

Swap Out Your Tires

In the snow and cold of winter, winter tires work best with their special rubber compound and blocky tread. However, as the temperature rises these tires become softer and squishier, this not only decreases your fuel economy but also degrades your vehicle’s ride quality! Switching to all-season or summer tires will make your VW stop, steer, and ride like it was meant to. And if you find yourself in need of a new set of rubber, our Tire Store has dozens of options for you to choose from!

Scrub and Shine

Another great idea is to give your Volkswagen a thorough cleaning inside and out. Chances are even if you’ve been careful you’ve tracked mud and snow into your vehicle over the winter months. This isn’t just a matter of vanity either; a clean car is not only less likely to rust over time, but will also garner a higher resale value if you decide to sell it! Our Parts & Accessories department also has items like replacement carpets if yours have become too worn.

Get an Alignment

An alignment controls the ride and handling of your vehicle, and chances are after plowing through ruts and snow drifts all winter your VW’s alignment has been altered for the worse. An alignment is also recommended if you’re swapping out your tires like we suggested earlier! Thankfully our Service & Parts department has the specialized equipment necessary to return your Volkswagen’s alignment back to its factory settings!

Unload and Simplify

Chances are like most people you’ve accumulated quite a collection of winter items in your Volkswagen. Electrical cords for your block heater, snow brush, antifreeze, winter floor mats – all of these things are no longer necessary now that the sun is shining and the grass is green! So do yourself a favour and unload all these items while you’re cleaning your Volkswagen.
